Charitha Paranawithana
Chief Engineer - M.Sc. B.Sc.
Passionate and results-driven Mechanical Engineer with over nine years of experience in engineering design, product development, and maintenance management.
Specialising in 3D mechanical design, machine development, and engineering project execution,
both in large-scale manufacturing environments and as a global freelancer.
Academic achievments includes a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, accredited under the Washington Accord, and an M.Sc. in Project Management from Cardiff University.
Certified SolidWorks Professional, with credentials covering mechanical design, drawing tools, sheet metal, mold, and weldment design. My core strength lies in *design engineering and CAD-based development*. I have led numerous new product development (NPD) projects from concept to implementation. My expertise includes creating complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed technical drawings, and performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for product validation. In my corporate career, I’ve managed cross-functional engineering teams and overseen large-scale projects involving machinery installation, equipment upgrades, process optimization, and cost reduction. I’ve led initiatives in DMAIC (a core LEAN SIX SEMA component) that improved changeover efficiency by 20%, localized spare part development to reduce procurement costs, and implemented engineering standards like TPM, FMEA, Kaizen, RCA, and 5 WHY analysis. As a freelancer, I have worked with hundreds of international clients, delivering design solutions that are functional, manufacturable, and visually optimized. Consistent 5-star ratings on over one thousand projects are a reflection of my dedication to quality, clear communication, and on-time delivery.
